Peintre : Pierre-Georges Jeanniot (1848-1934), né à Genève de parents français. Exposa au Salon des Artistes Français de 1872 à 1929. Peintre et dessinateur. Fils et élève du peintre Pierre Alexandre Jeanniot à Dijon. Officier, il abandonna la carrière militaire pour se consacrer à la peinture et se fixa à Paris en 1881.
Ce tableau est un scène de nature peinte à l’huile sur bois. Il s’agit d’un paysage boisé au bord d’un plan d’eau, peint dans un style impressionniste.
Au premier plan on distingue un plan d’eau, animé par des reflets ondoyants colorés dans un subtil jeu de lumière. Sur la droite, de la végétation et quelques arbres aux troncs sombres.
De l’autre côté du plan d’eau, une prairie s’étale. La végétation s’épaissit vers le fond, où se dressent de nombreux arbres. On retrouve des tons violets, bleutés et rosés, donnant une impression de brume ou de crépuscule. Le ciel, lui aussi, est d’une couleur pastel, passant du rose au gris.
