Ce petit tableau représente une scène de campagne paisible et bucolique. Au premier plan on distingue un plan d’eau dans lequel se reflète les éléments du paysage. Juste derrière on trouve une maison blanche à toit rouge accolée à une autre construction, certainement une grange. L’ensemble est entouré de grands arbres feuillus. Un chemin traverse le tableau sur la droite, à côté duquel se trouve une femme en robe sombre et coiffe blanche.
À droite, à l’arrière-plan, on devine une autre petite maison isolée. Le ciel, uniforme et légèrement nuageux, donne une atmosphère calme à la scène.
La palette est douce et naturelle. Il y a une jolie perspective accentuée par le chemin et le reflet dans l’eau. La lumière est diffuse, sans source évidente, ce qui suggère peut-être un ciel couvert ou un moment de la journée calme (matin ou fin d’après-midi).
Le tableau est une huile sur bois signé des initiales JB et daté 1932.

A path crosses the picture on the right, beside which stands a woman in a dark dress and white headdress.

To the right, in the background, we can make out another small, isolated house. The uniform, slightly cloudy sky lends a calm atmosphere to the scene.

The palette is soft and natural. There's a lovely perspective, accentuated by the path and the reflection in the water. The light is diffused, with no obvious source, suggesting perhaps an overcast sky or a calm time of day (morning or late afternoon).
